Education has the power to shape the future. In 2015, Helen Adams Realty embraced that belief by creating a scholarship fund with UNC Charlotte in honor of our founder, Helen Adams. What began as an idea to give back to the community has grown into a lasting investment in local students. Since its initial funding, the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship Fund has enabled students to pursue studies in fields such as biology, chemistry, marketing, computer science, history, and economics, easing the financial burden of higher education and empowering Charlotte’s next generation of leaders.
Helen Adams Realty’s scholarship is part of the larger UNC Charlotte endowment, which has awarded a total of $8.4 million for the 2024–2025 year, according to the latest endowment report. Proceeds from the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship Fund provide merit-based support to incoming freshmen, with preference given to students from Mecklenburg County. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, as long as recipients continue to demonstrate strong academic achievement.
Reflecting on the scholarship’s influence, one student expressed how it empowers them to pursue their goals with confidence:
“This scholarship is not only a financial relief, but also a source of encouragement that motivates me to push forward, stay committed to my goals, and make a meaningful impact. I am truly grateful for your investment in my education and in the future of students like me at UNC Charlotte.”
The scholarship has also enabled students to achieve prestigious academic honors. One recipient recently earned the Goldwater Scholarship, a competitive award for students in STEM disciplines. They expressed how the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship played a pivotal role in this accomplishment:
"I am honored to be a recipient of the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship. Currently, I am majoring in biology and chemistry, and I plan to apply to graduate school soon. Recently, I was awarded the Goldwater Scholarship, which is a prestigious award for students in STEM research who plan to get a PhD. This achievement would not have been possible without the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship."
